Looking over my shoulder at this offer she say's... Isn't that the one you've been hunting? Go ahead.. it's almost the 1st... and you can add it to your ngc package... 2 coin's in one week if only she knew she was getting the deed to the house in a couple weeks for her bday... I'd be getting Double Eagles lol.... Anyhoo..... She's going straight to NGC as soon as she arrives... One of my regulars offered me this one with the statement it "was" in an ICG slab.. MS61... I'm calling it 58-60 from the pics.. seller is backing up a "clean" grade (refund if it comes back details) got her for a song... $100... I really can't lose on this even if it comes back xf I break even I'd really like to hear some opinions on her
From the images, I just don't see it as MS. If it was a GTG, I'd guess XF-45/AU-50. Not bad for $100.00 I hope it straight grades for you.
Definitely cleaned. Get your refund now. Looks buffed and polished. Also wear on the coin in the usual high places XF45 to AU 50 details.
It’s a nice looking, clean coin for sure. I’m thinking mid to low AU. I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t straight grade.
I'll be honest @Morgandude11 even if she comes back AU Details cleaned.. at a total of about $150 after grading, she'll still have cost me less then they selling for right now... I haven't seen a single AU details 94 sell under 200 for months (I lie one went for 189, but it was nasty lol) So I'll wait to get it in hand and go from there @Collecting Nut the shading between the stars "hints" at cleaning to me but I can't tell for sure from these pic's. But... with a promise of a return if it doesn't grade clean, I'm more then willing to take the chance.
I noticed that but from the photos I can’t see and hairlines from a cleaning. Maybe a quick dip but you’ll know when it comes back.
She just arrived here.. Much more luster to her then i expected though a bit more wear on the reverse.. On quick inspection I think she will grade clean (as opposed to "cleaned") XF-AU.. I'm happy
I wouldn't have it graded bc it's cleaned and maybe worse! Still a keeper but I wouldn't spend more money on it. Your choice, good luck!
I‘m really sorry, but this coin will get a details grade for cleaning. That‘s mine with a little less wear and Original Surfaces for comparison purposes.
The photos only reinforce that it has been cleaned. Look at the swirl marks in the fields. It isn’t even AU. I would say, based on the hair, eagle’s breast, and wing tips, XF details. PCGS Price Guide has an AU 1894o at $600. As an XF 40, it is $135. There is no way this coin will grade, and be AU. 1894o is one of the really tough dates to find in straight graded really nice condition.
Now that I can see the coin better I can see it is not an AU coin, but probably fine. I think it may receive a details grade but I can see it well enough to say that. If you can, I’d return for a full refund.
If you want an attractive 94o, and not break the bank, why not go for a coin like this? It makes more sense than the coin that you bought. Conditional rarities like the 94o, are best bought certified. This coin is reasonably priced, and much better looking. It is also straight graded. That is a brutal date to find a nice looking coin, and to be blunt, the one you bought is not attractive. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1894-O-1-M...2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
@mrweaseluv I truly hate offering opinions on coins like this. I feel for the buyer and their excitement. That said, I first looked at your pix and had the same details, cleaned, and more wear than MS opinion shared by the consensus here. Now seeing the pix you took and your honest opinion, having it in hand, it reinforces my initial opinion. Details, cleaned. Condition wise, more wear than I'd like to see on an AU coin. I'm thinking 40-45 is where it would grade if not for the cleaning.
I don't understand sending it in to get a details grade. You could buy plenty of already details coins cheaper already in the slab. And pictures through a 2x2 after you get it in hand?
