This BIE is driving me nuts, It looks like a S mint mark in between the BE of liberty, perhaps I'm just seeing stuff but hey at least it's a BIE error. I looked it up and have not seen one similar. Sometimes they put mint marks there to confuse you. :)

    That’s what I’d call a nice S cracked die, a BSE error?

Don't worry, it was transferred to the San Francisco mint mid-mint....

    NOOOOOOOOOO!

It's a normal die break. It can take many forms. If you see a letter it's just Paredolia.

Do, a search. RPMS used to do some awesome Macro imagery of Lincoln BIE's
    It's not an S.

It's actually an S over D. You can see some of the underlying D just off the SW corner of the S, if you look really hard. Certainly an expert can see it, as good as they are at seeing things.

It's because the spelling is off...rmpsrpms, not rpmsrpms.

The "S" looks like paredolia to me. If it were a mintmark, it would be the deepest-punched one in the whole Lincoln series.

Thanks! I'm still doing them, but also have been doing large high resolution images for folks. Here is a high res photo with a BIE. This one is quite rare, a 1956-D RPM#1 in late die state with the BIE. I'm still looking for one of these in BU:

I think I see a copper mite eating an ice cream cone.

Furthermore, I think the S is inverted.

I had figured it was the spelling. I am pretty sure I had the same trouble the last time I tried.
Is that a stacked image? Great RPM-001 by the way.

I figured it was my imagination messing with me but it sure does look like an S especially at the bottom. Still a pretty cool BIE.

Yep, I think that was with 12-image stacks, and two stitched images, using the A7Rm4 Full Frame camera. Much easier than what I was doing before, with 6 stitched images, using the HRT2i APS-C camera.

Thanks! These high res images are fun to make.
