You are very welcome. This is a known die. What will seer it to memory...because as Morgandude will suggest the same (I think...) ..... this is a well know strike issue on many 80s decade series, because of the slight differences in strike pressure and the nature of the basining of the die.....so using that same 5X I suggested, examine the same areas in the first obverse photo and then the second obverse photo. It will take you about 30 seconds and you will know it every time you view this type of anomaly, and it will be as 2nd nature as instantly identifying a clash without thinking about it.

Some other time, maybe Morgandude can talk to the slight curvature via basining of the die. I recall his comment about this a long time ago on another forum.

Personally, I didn't know a thing about this until many years ago when 2 granddaddys in the field of Morgan and Peace $ took the time to teach me.

Truth in opinion: I should have stated Morgandude AND ifthevamzarockin, because I know for a fact he also knows.
I apologize for not mentioning that.

At first look, I'd say at least a 65. On the reverse, I think the breast feathers take it down a notch. I'd call it a 64.

AU 58 was my first impression....it's an 1889-S, which isn't a common date and that influenced my guess....the fields are clean but something makes me think there is a hint of wear

Edit: with the comment mentioning there might be a surprise, I now expect to see a details grade...cleaned or altered surfaces (I don't see it from the photo; just saying it because that would be different than what anyone else said)

Very nice to be sure, but to me, no way a 65...more a 64 at best.

Well @Dave Waterstraat nailed it! ;)

I'm sure this would 64 today so anyone that guessed 64 is also right. :)

I was thinking MS 65. That coin was under graded. I don't see anything major that would knock it down to a MS 63. There are a few reeding marks near the arrows on the reverse but not bad. Definitely a solid MS 64.

Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

I think you are quite correct. The “bump” looks like a possible small die artifact.
