:confused:In the April issue of Guns and Ammo Magazine, the GovMint is selling these Dollars. It states that they were minted in the San Francisco Mint, for use in the Philippines, a US territory at the time. They are .800 silver, weighs 20 grams and has a 1.37 inch diameter. I have looked in the Red Book and can't find them. They say that they are scarce. Does anyone know about these coins? They also say they date 1907 thru 1912 and are the only "Silver dollar created during TR's presidency." It states it is a "US TERRITORIAL SILVER DOLLAR". Lady Liberty is featured on the front and the back depicts and eagle standing proudly atop a U.S. shield. Also on the back it states, "United States of America". The picture is not the best. Since I have never heard of these can someone tell me if they actually were minted in the SF mint and if they are worth anything? Thanks.

Yes, they are worth something. Yes, they did exist. Yes, they were minted in San Fransisco (and Philadelphia) for circulation in the Philippines. No, they were not related to Teddy Roosevelt. No, you should not buy them from the "Government Mint" or from the back of a magazine!

They're listed in the back of the Redbook.

Thanks for the information. I did find them in the back of the red book. Thought they would be cool since they have US of A on the back. Guess I should re-read my red book, no telling what else I have missed. Thanks again for the info.

They are actually pretty cool coins. They are rare compared to many silver dollars, but with the supply and demand aspect, there are not many individuals that know about them and therefore do not have an interest in them. They are a great peice of history and can be bought for anywhere above 20.00 on ebay right now.
