A COMPLETE HOARD FOR SALE…

    I’ll be the dissenting voice. Coins, without historical context, quickly lose their appeal to me. We have had numerous wonderful posts on this site about ancient coins that explore the coins’ rich and fascinating historical background. For me, context is everything. Coin hoards give us the rare opportunity to better place these coins in their historical and possibly social context.

    Although I wouldn’t spend the money for this hoard (sold at Heritage Auction in 2014 for $17,625), I found this item absolutely fascinating. (I hope that a museum purchased this item):
