What's in a name? English Cartwheel

    Not a stupid question at all - I tend to think of a "cartwheel" as being the massive copper issues of 1797. The 1806 in the OP is quite a bit smaller. But the term is a loose one and could probably be applied to any large coin as a kind of numismatic slang (for instance, Morgan/Peace silver dollars are called "cartwheels" sometimes as well). They are all pretty large coins:
