Agreed, we need to have Vet's recognized:

Just released: 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Proof Silver Dollar

Also recently proposed: Gettysburg Campaign Gold, Silver, and Clad Commemorative Coins Proposed amongst other modern US commems in the past 20 years...

I would rather see him on a $20 bill, really cant stand Jackson. But overall there is others who deserve to be on a bill or coin, Theodore Roosevelt for one!

:) hahahaha that's be the day!

I vote either a gold coin (ie a new gold $1) or replacing Jefferson on the nickel.

    *just my 2 cents*

No Thanks! Not a Fan of Regan. People believe all the Hype.. some of us remember..
Grant as a General was great.. as POTUS.. well not so good.. but we do not need to insult the past hero's by replacement.. I am not a fan of removing any of the current Money with ANY other POTUS.. IMHO.

"Here we go running down that holler" - how does she look boys"?

Early on in CoinTalk I threw jabs and remarks at Republicans and still do on occasion but I'm trying to do better all the time. It dawned on me that everytime we started talking about politics or anything other than coins we were being very selfish and in effect "stealing away from other's" chance of learning". That is not what we "should be here for"!
Whoever ends up on paper money is someone elses problem or concern not mine. Reagan good or bad, who knows? It will all work itself out in the end. One thing for certain is beautiful paper money as not beed seen since 1934 (really 1923) and I really don't expect much change in that anytime soon. For all the comments for or against living or dead actual persons on coins and paper we really should just go back to figures representing Liberty, Justice, Freedom and then it offends no one in regards to politics and who likes who - that would be a good all round choice IMO.

Your comment might be more credible if you could spell the man's name right.

    (Ronald) REAGAN was President

(Donald) Regan was in his cabinet

I would like to see a return to Liberty on our coinage. Politicians are supposed to be subservient to Liberty and coinage has mirrored the poor attitude which has developed that Liberty is subservient to politicians.

Now I do think it's time to bring back higher denominations of bills.

Politicians belong on paper since they have no real intrinsic value, just like paper.

In regards to something of this magnitude, I think that we should take a moment to consider whether we have distanced ourselves from the recent past in order to subjectively look at the subject. In my opinion (and it's only an opinion!!), I don't believe that we have. We as a nation are still debating numerous aspects of his tenure as President, especially some of the controversy surrounding Iran and CONTRA. On the other hand, he steered the USA through the end of the Cold War and is seen by many as righting fiscal policies that had gone astray. Personally, I would love to see the Statue of Liberty on a note, or one of the older large-size note images make a resurgence, but that probably won't happen. A good thing to do is to realize that the only candidates to take off are Jackson and Grant, and Grant was the Republican. Makes more sense than dime or $10 since Hamilton is the reason why we have our modern monetary system and believe in the greenback. Basically I think that he will eventually be on some sort of bill or coinage, just not in the near future...

This is an interesting one because we are talking about our currency. I know the policies in place regarding politics, but there is just no way to discuss this without talking and even debating politics. Hmmm...

As general rule we should wait about 100 years after death before deciding if someone is currency worthy. These decisions should not be made for political gain. I would be all for changing the dime and the half dollar for this same reason.
