Perhaps they use their auctions as a front for money laundering...

PCGS price guide for the next grade up, MS 67, is $2,250. Maybe they expect it to be undergraded. Not a gamble I would take, though.

Most of the 58 are heavily toned because of the cardboard mint sets they came in. Finding a high grade bright white coin can be like finding a needle in a haystack.
The grade and not having any toning made this coin go for the big number.

I am glad my collection has always been based on eye appeal. That kind of collecting could get way out of hand.

Essentially no chance thats the case. Numerous others are available including CAC ones and higher graded ones for a lower price that would count for more in the registry. It's not a hard to find coin

Yeah, you're right. More likely two dealers banking on a MS67FBL re-sub.

They'd need better than a 67 to break even or make money on that. Just look at the bid history

Indeed "crazy" in common-man "cents," but nothing "stinks" or is of "laundering," etc...just some deep-pocket folks wanting what they want and willing to pay to get it, timing, and a nice coin. I wouldn't/couldn't, you wouldn't/couldn't, but to each (that could/did) their own.

Yep. I see one person who clearly doesn't understand eBay proxy bidding (even after accumulating 293 feedbacks) -- they keep putting in incremental bids against the one other high bidder (who put in one bid, then came back once and raised it). And then they both got sniped at the end. If this was money laundering, somebody put in a LOT of extra work.

Check out the bidders. Two bidders got into a war over it and then one totally different bidder "sniped" the coin at the last second.

Funny how both got Sniped by a ebay noob, the two had hundreds of feedback the winner 21.I don't understand why people get into a bidding war your better off waiting until the last second instead of multiple bids.

The last I knew, NGC graded moderns didn't bring prices any where near to what some collectors will pay for the same grade in a PCGS holder.

Better still, you are way better off avoiding eBay entirely because of the hidden snipes that snatch the item from you after it as closed. EBay sucks, and I refuse to have anything to do with it. Life's too short to spend it unhappy because of eBay nonsense.

Never have any coin shows around here,I do buy some stuff from the LCS and I don't like any of the other auction sites neither eBay but I just have to go with it.I would rather go to shows definitely but the city's just don't have them.

I can understand that, but I would rather deal with almost any coin dealer than eBay.

    Vertigo Did someone say bust?

Those bell lines don't even look full. And ngc requires both sections to be full to get the designation. But this wouldn't be the first one I've seen with the designation that didn't have full lines...
