Seems poor Basiliscus and Marcus where sent to Limnae in Cappadocia/ Zeno then had them "starved to death" Zeno was not not a nice guy.......
Congratulations, John! What a great coin. I prioritized differently this time, and ordered 3 of these for the prize of the cheapest lot at Roma:
Congrats on a very tough acquisition! It always amazes me the gap in the quality between lage 5th century AE versus AV Only Basiliscus I'm likely to have until the coin market cools down:
After finding out I won the Anthemius/ I think its high time for me to get my butt in gear and go back to work/ make some dough.....
We call those «Judasmoney» (judaspenger). What is your word? Sorry for the off topic posts, but when it comes to this class of coins, gardening is the closest I can relate to @panzerman
Congrats on both of your cool wins, John! I have nothing to post with your Anthemius, but here I can post my Basiliscus semissis: Not nearly as lovely as your coin, but the denomination is very rare.
