I found this quarter the other day and the rim is strange. It's a 2008 Arizona Quarter. It seems like it never went through the machine that makes the ridges. I've never seen a quarter like this, is it an error? IMG_5215.JPG IMG_5219.JPG IMG_5216.JPG

I also forgot to post that the detail in the hair and face isn't fully there. This may be just pmd but it seems unlikely for it to wear out that much after only 5 years.

All three faces of a coin, edge (reeds), obverse and reverse, are struck at the same time. Your coin has had its reeding worn/ground off. Its obverse has had quite a beating, too. It's a spender. Keep looking, there are errors out there to be found.

PMD, look at how high the rim is the the obv/rev. Possibly spooned.

Post Mint Damage. Damage inflicted on a coin AFTER it left the coining chamber.

It’s not an error... it’s over used coin that maybe someone grounded down or what ever... not an error... keep looking

It was used to mounting in a ring or piece. Ive found multiples like this one and have seen how its done. They grind it down so it fits better and doesnt roll around as much

Hi.. John hasn't been on CoinTalk since January 2017.

If you read the comments it explains that it is damaged. That's where the information you are looking for is found.

Please start a new thread and pictures are always needed.

    Welcome to CoinTalk.
