    I said AU55. I wasn’t high, PCGS was low.

Fairly if strictly graded IMHO, though I can certainly understand your hoping for a slight bump.

Great collection though–and as so often happens I find myself as much or even more attracted to AU coins than to MS examples.

Wow. I was going to say a 50/55. Personally, I'm with you on a bit finer in the grading.

I agree with @Marsden , it’s a great set. I love real coins that did their job a bit before being saved instead of just sitting untouched in a vault for 80 years.

Congratulations on completion!!! Based on the replies, most of us who posted were surprised, especially w/ it being a newer grading. I look @ a ton of these and feel they graded it stricter than most recent submissions (imo). Somebody must have had a bad bowling night lol? Thanks for sharing!

I don't profess to be an expert grader but
With peace dollars it seems the grade often correlates to the definition of the eagles feathers. I really like the series but most of them to me seem weakly struck.

I generally agree. I will admit the sparkling beauty of a gem Morgan or Peace is hard to beat. But that is $1000 coin for something like this 1928. Next step is the AU range, which worked for my budget. I am really picky in the AU range and eye appeal is of vital importance. There are some real dogs. For Morgans, I hate the XF area. I have a full Morgan set and not a single coin in XF. However, the 28 S Peace Dollar is a XF45 and she is quite pretty. For the Morgans, I absolutely love the even toned, even wear a VF can have. But it has to a very specific look.

Compare this piece to the other recent 1928 post, with unsolved questions of the coin.
