I can't recall seeing a label with "stained" on it before. Are they referring to toning? That shouldn't have affected the grade no matter what. I don't see anything that stands out as "staining" but maybe it's my eye sight.

I don't see what they are talking about as a stained either. I've seen the term on slabs before, but on those, the "staining" was quite obvious, brighter coins with a dark area that didn't look like toning. I would've snatched that baby up for the price too.

Nice pick up , be sure to check it for the 1961/0 variety. This is a variety that has been refuted but still recognized by many.
    There's 2 doubled dies the 001 and 002 and two rpd 1861/61 & 1861/1.
So you have a chance at 5 varieties on that specimen. 2 ddo's and 2 rpds and a refuted over date.
This coin busted out given an acetone bath will look great.
I just aquired an 1849 half dime an V-8 in an ICG slab , that will be busted out soaked ,and regraded properly s-l1600-6.jpg s-l1600-7.jpg
This is a rarer variety die marriage.

There's plenty of coins as such with very minor issues that are bagged and they keep the fee.

This specimen was $50 value $125

Nice coin but 1861’s have 2 varieties. The type with 5 vertical lines in the top of the shield is the scarcer one.

There's no variety that has 5 lines in the shield on an h 10. The 1855 h 10 has an variety that has 7 horizontal lines on the shield, but No other.
