The Buffalo on the left has better definition, so I'd use it, but others saying your original coin have valid points.
Tis but a vessel to hold treasures. Showing it's age shouldn't cause it to be thrown out. Heck, we would have been discarded a few years ago based upon wear and tear. LOL
My wife thought I should put the new one in the extra space there is in those old Whitman albums. I might do that.
Nice coins, both. I like the reverse on the left one. More detail around the buffalo's head. But I think the obverse is a toss up. Maybe give the right one an honorable mention but dance with the one that brought you.
The buffalo nickel series can be a difficult series to read, the left is the better choice, but again buffalos strike can vary depending on the date.. add to that years of circulation two nickels like yours can both display plus and minus on their wear.
I'd normally be all for getting coins out of folders like those, but at this point it really wouldnt make any difference in their presentation and would probably try and keep that one as long as possible
The older I get, the more sentimental I get. I like the idea of a collector having the one found 60-70 years ago as opposed to a newly acquired one. As someone said above, start a new album with more current found items. My original albums (cost 35 cents each) have my original finds. But do whatever makes you happy friend.
