I'm hoping these are all upgrades to our SLQ set - a 1924D (currently we have a VG10, Details Scratched), a possibly Full Head 1917D, type 1 (currently that slot holds a VG10), and a 1917S, type 1 (currently a VF25). I am not great at spotting cleaning or artificial toning, but the 1917s looks kind of flat to me, I'm sending these in on the CoinTalk special to ICG with some others in the next week as I have had excellent experiences with them so far. Thoughts on grading / details (and whether I should seek Conservation services) would be appreciated and pictures of your SLQs are always fun to see! 1924dobv.jpg 1924drev.jpg IMG_4811.JPG IMG_4813.JPG 1917sobvtype1.JPG 1917srevtype1.JPG

I'd say they're all nice upgrades

They are under graded, but what do you expect to get?

Coin 1 has something (a depression between between 9 and 10 k, between stars 4 and 5, which looks like a depression. Is it mint caused or post mint damage?

Coin 2 appears to be an AU, but not an AU-58. The major services don’t give full head in less than AU-58.

Coin 3 has rim problems at 4 and 10 k. I would not waste my money on that piece. It is a “no grade” or “details” coin.

You would do better to spend the money on higher grade pieces that are already certified.

I appreciate your insights! I get them graded for fun and education, and it's not that expensive - plus ICG is pretty quick, even on the Economy Tier for the special, it's 3 weeks turnaround from my post office and back to same. If I had the budget to collect nicer graded pieces, I might do just that, but my son and me have a lot of fun digging for bargains and looking at raw coins to see what we can find. The journey is the fun - not so worried about the destination necessarily.

On preservation; I, personally, would see what the cost was and if not prohibitive, I would have it done to any coin that I though would preserve the condition once sealed in plastic.
