Having no kids, I don’t have much chance to share with YNs Today some friends brought their grandsons to visit. Damn, kids are smart nowadays.
Had a couple Merc dimes 25 & 29 and a couple 1979s Proof Type 2 as gifts. Being CRH kids, they really opened up when they saw my CRH 1984 doubled ear And then the cud’s and clashes. I have about 500 coins with me The photo is me showing the clash marks on a dime The 11 yo knew exactly what it was
What about a Henning nickel?I still need to find a doubled ear as well also any of the WAM's or CAM's.
I guess I always thought you were a bit older than you are. You've built up a nice body of knowledge for a young guy!
I don't know about any of you, but it gets my juices flowing when I see a youngster take interest in me showing them coins.
Great stuff! I don't have kids, but have a nephew who is just old enough that he's getting interested. He loved it when I brought over some mixed foreign coins as gifts for the kids, but I learned that when asked "what is this one worth," that "Nothing, it's from a country that doesn't exist anymore, but it's still neat" is not the answer he is looking for! So the next visit, I brought a common circulated Morgan so he could have a coin that, in his eyes, is worth a fortune! He then surprised me by asking if it would be worth even more someday. I never thought that far ahead when I was little.
Hope they stick with it! I have a nephew that was briefly interested, but the XBox won that battle! Maybe he'll return to the hobby when he's older.
I love this! I've been doing the same with all my nephews, nieces and cousins. I just started my own thread about it!!
