Missing Clad layer usually involves just one side of a clad coin. I say it's just environmental toning. Here are my metal detected examples that were exposed to the elements..
Here are examples of missing clad layer from my collection. Each is noted if on Obverse or Reverse side.. The other side for each looks normal.
The weight doesn't matter. There can be a weight variance on most coins.. You Quarter is not a mint error.
It’s been the jar a long time. I found a nickel as well but it’s clearly damage. I got that one right for sure lol. Thank you!
Are you saying the Weight does not matter on a Missing Clad Layer coin? If the OP had Weighed her coin before posting, she would not have had a need to post a statement or a question about her coin.
Correct. It could of been a heavier than normal weight Quarter and if it were a true missing clad layer it could of made it weigh the correct weight or close to the correct weight.. Obviously Peace
If the rim has the same color as the coin, then it's environmental damage . But if the rim is shiny and looks new, could be improperly annealed . Which is totally different then missing a clad layer .
