I have been playing with my new digital camera and took these pictures
of some coins from the former Portuguese colonies.

I acquired them in the 1960's from California coin dealer foreign coin boxes.

It is my opion that the 10 Reis minted for the Azores is one of the more striking coins in my collection.

Not to mention that the Azores is a very unique and interesting place

Pretty coins, but just a note. Azores doesn't qualify as a colony.

I have a lot of coins and currency from the largest former colony of Portugal - Yes, Brazil!!

I guess thats probably true, it was just a part of Portugal. It was settled by all type from all over and changed hands a bit but from the mid 1600's they were a part of the Portuguese empire. It wasnt until 1976 when it became the Autonomous Region of the Azores which was still technically one of the Autonomous regions of Portugal...thus a part of Portugal.
