I found a new local dealer that seems to be a reasonable and fair seller/buyer so far and there is a coin there that absolutely BLEW ME AWAY!! lol He has a slabbed (NGC I believe) MS64 1860 Indian Cent. This coin is unbelievable in color, luster and just pure detail. Anyway, he is asking $400 for it. Does this sound like a good and reasonable deal? If so, I would love to go back and talk to him again about "taking it off his hands"
If NGC MS-64 - (be sure it's not a MS-63), (be sure it's not NNC or any other type lettering) than NGC, it's a good price for that coin.
Thanks bhp. If I do decide to go and talk to him about that coin, I will make sure to check in greater detail. Btw, he said something about being a NGC certified dealer.
It is of course a long shot, but always check 1860 IHC for the type of '59 bust which is pointed at the neck rather than rounded. Unless variety fees are paid on submission, the label won't say. But sometimes buyers can get lucky and it is a nice hike in value. SO if you are familiar with it, check out FS-01-1860-401. If it is, I would quietly and quickly pay the asking price. Jim
Nope - 1860 and 1864. To the original poster - all I can do is repeat what they already said. Probably the rounded bust variety, but still a decent price.
It depends if the coin is BN, RB, or RD. If it's BN (brown), it may not be so hot of a deal, though still not bad. Also, make sure it's NGC and not some nonsense TPG.
I may be wrong but I think that the TGPs do not give a color designation for the copper-nickel cents.
Big thanks to all who have chimed in. If the chance does come...I will be more then happy to post picks of it! lol
