    I found a 1972 D Kennedy Half Dollar
that weights 11.53 grams, while CRH.
If this is Silver Clad 40%, I cannot find it listed in ANY of my books or gathered hunting material.

Have any of you EVER heard of a
    1972 D KHD, 11.53 grams Find?

Thank you. Any information would be very helpful and informative for now and the future - while CRHing.

That sure is heavy for a Clad half if your scale is correct. Not sure about if it could be silver situation but the weight is well within the range.

Show a picture of the edge. Could simply be plated.

This is why I took a picture of my scale with a 10 gram weight showing perfect weight. I also checked my scale with a 20 gram weight, which I did not post because I thought it would be overkill and that the 10 gram pic. would solve the "weight question" issue. Additionally, I also weighed it on my older scale (which really did'nt have any issues when upgraded to this newer all metal scale a few months ago) and it weighed 11.50 on that scale.

The two rim/edge shots are of two opposite edges.

How Much Does a Half-Dollar Weigh? The United States half-dollars manufactured for circulation since 1971 have outer layers of 75 percent copper and 25 percent nickel adhered to a core of pure copper with a diameter of 30.61 millimeters. These coins weigh 11.34 grams with a tolerance of ± 0.454 grams.

The edge shot confirms it's not silver. The first picture looks like a plated coin. Sorry, but not silver.

I don't think it's plated. It's just a bit heavy. Still within tolerance.

Another box of nickels have been perused with little to brag about. The best finds were a 1941-S and a 1945-P. The early decade count yielded six from the 1940's and five from the 1950's. Switching to half dollars for my next hunt!

Found some interesting things in this week's dollar coin box.
36 Presidential NIFCs, not including the three proofs I found. 2 Sacagawea NIFCs. A 1980-S Susan B Anthony, a 2021-P Native American, and what I think is a 1979 Wide Rim Variety! Can anyone let me know if I'm right, this is my first time coming across something like it.

If that SBA is a 79P, then it looks good for a wide rim. I can't tell the mm from your picture.

On Spring Break so drove around town to about 10 different banks asking about half dollars. End of the day, came home with 28 rolls of halves. Found nothing until the 3rd-to-last and 2nd-to-last rolls:

    1963 Franklin Half
    2x1966 40% halves
    3 NIFC (2003, 2018, 2021)

Plus, one bank that had no halves found out I had an account there (I actually forgot I did!) and they will be regularly ordering me a box of halves! Score!

There are about 10 more banks in this city and the next town over that I'll try for on Thursday.

There are a bunch of different banks in my area and I have an account with bank A which orders me boxes of coins and bank B has several branches nearby that I dump the leftovers at. Do you go into banks just asking for halves? Any time I do the same they usually tell me I have to have an account with them in order to exchange them. :( I already have three bank accounts so I don't really want to open more just to ask if they have the coins, just wondering if you're lucky and the banks in your area are nicer or if I'm doing something wrong
