I get a kick out of advertised "unsearched" rolls and they also tell you that they are p, d, & s wheaties! How do they know if the roll is unsearched! I agree with previous posts that there are virtually no truly unsearched rolls.

YES! Estate Goodies Galore. A guy named Micheal I think. Very fast and so far an accurate description. not outrageous on prices either.

I hope you didn't pay too much. Those rolls are obviously put together and will not having anything of any real value in them. If you are buying just to fill some holes in your folder and understand that they aren't "real" rolls, then enjoy :)
Just dpn't want to see a new collector get screwed over by a less than honest seller.

I dont know bout that. Lets consider something all you nay sayers harp on in just about every post, atleast 1 person chimes in..No, I 99.99% will not find a million dollar holy grail. But open the PCGS pop report then go to their price guide, take a gather at auction prices in the Mega Red, look at what's going on in Heritage Auctions and Ebay. I dont know why you guys are such Debbie Downers! The market is out there. Coin collectors will spend.

I watched a Sotheby's auction where starting price on some goes for $30/40 thousand and more. What does that tell me? That humans will spend on their passions. That they crave to have bragging rights and be the envy of other collectors. Hell, look at the registry sets. Really? Lets rate those who can afford to spend outrageous $ on coins? To know who is best? Why?

That even the average middle class person would want a nice collection? People who dont have the time to search? Almost ever price listed is a win for me if I was to sell them. And yes, I am collecting as well.

I have found some neat errors, quite a few varieties, and some high quality coins that I am using as my tools to learn. I enjoy the hunt immensely. And who is to say I wont find MS66+ when there is only 2 ever graded by PCGS at that grade? Or even better a 67? Thats all it takes is 1. Didn't the last 1992 close AM get found in a take a penny leave a penny dish at a gas station?

But back to my $ spent. Even without selling at this point I am up. But it is a penny. Even if I spent .16 cent a piece, if I sell 2 at $22 or $15 or even $5 I am up.

Not all people collect for the simple fact of having that beautiful collection that they can register and brag about to everybody else. some people collect the lesser known and lesser wanted coins. Like I know that the floating roofs aren't worth anything to you, maybe, but maybe there's a guy out there who just found out about them. He decides that he wants to collect them. He hasn't been able to find one. Now, he's on eBay and he sees one for five bucks? well then it saves him a lot of trouble.

People make mistakes all day everyday. that's why these coins are let out into the population, because somebody made a mistake and let it go by. There are so many people who don't have a clue about coins who are inheriting coin collections left and right. There's so many people that are buying these estates and and have so many coins and hordes that they're flying through them. if they get a chance to really look through them!! if they don't miss the coin!! there's coins out there.

I see a huge market for coins that are popular for sentimental and/or personal reasons versus the ones where only a few can afford them. and of course those are the ones you're never going to find!! because that's why they're so outrageous, they are rare. I'm not talking about looking for those. I'm talking about looking for all the other ones, just so somebody else can have it in their collection. to say, "see I have a double die 1955!" granted is it the mega? no but is it still a 1955 double die that they have in their collection, that they can afford. yes, you got to look at the individual okay ? and y'all come from a different breed y'all are on a different level than what I'm talking about. you have money to spend on the coins and you're looking for a certain high $ ones. why ?? because they're rare and popular. well good luck with that! see how likely you are to finish your collection with your financial means looking at those Mac Daddy coins that everybody wants versus the the little man over here who could be satisfied with something similar or near it that he can afford. there's more of those people than there are your kind of people. Those are the people I want to appeal to. but I got to get good at identifying, recognizing, knowing the definitions, learning the coins, and I'm using these coin roll hunting that I'm doing to help teach myself.

Not to mention my great nieces who are 1 & 2 years old. I'm compiling a collection for the both of them and I want to include everything, so that they have a total collection of just very cool coins.

now everything I just said the $9.99 that I spent to you really think it's all that bad?

Yes, they both have scammers. But on etsy it's essentially unfettered and absolutely nuts, especially if you're looking to buy a $25,000 parking lot coin lol.

Ebay can be a good source, you have to explore many searches and sellers and of course a bit of learning along the way.

Many folks will post sellers pictures here of something they want to bid on or buy and ask questions like "legit?!". You might not want to show us the actual listing to avoid picking up people bidding against you lol. But of course the savvy can try and find the listing...but us coin folks tend to have very good intentions and protect each other, but competition can be fierce!

Call coin shops and visit coinshops and visit coinshop websites...call them and ask questions if a coinshop has rolls...Where did the rolls come from, are they bank rolls, are they put together by a dealer??? LCSs tend also to be very honest, they want your business forever! Coinshops often end up with various hoards of rolls.

If "searching" is the activity you love, then don't ignore opportunities to by loose wheaties for example. You may find someone (or a coinshop) with various types of bags of coins and you may have to do some investigating and have a conversation to find out if the loose coins have potential.
I can tell you for sure there are still sealed mint bags and PLENTY of various types of bags of coins that are "unsearched" today because it's been so long since someone went through them. I also always assume that I'm a much better searcher then the last person lol!

Craigslist can even be a good hookup... you have to make yourself informed enough to feel confident with it and of course keep things in very public places and be safe when doing Craigslist things! If a seller doesn't communicate, run.

If a coin roll listing has a photo of only one end of the roll and no photos of the roll from the side(s), run.

There are also buy sell trade areas within some of the larger coin forums. Many folks here buy and sell in these forums.

I spent $9.99. lol so im good. I am too frugal with my money. But like some collectors who drop ridiculous amounts (IMO) of money on A coin, i am truly enjoying this new hobby of mine. Matterfact, i had to make myself take a break. I fell asleep at my desk the other nite and woke up hurting so bad from the position i was in lol
