As I look at the canadian silver dollar series from about 1939 to 1967 I have some questions. I have been buying a few of them. I bought my first one graded by ICCS. It looks great. First question, Why is it called voyager? Second why so many proof like coins, even in early dates. Did the proof like coins go into circulation or were they in mint sets. Do MS coins bring extra where the majority of late date coins from what I have seen are proof like? Just curious.
While I'm certainly not an expert, I do collect both MS and PL Canadian silver dollars (1935-1967) as well as the nickel and silver commemorative dollars issued from 1968 to the present. The reverse of the dollar shows a "voyager" and an aboriginal person in a birch-bark canoe. Hope that helps - Mike
