They don’t have access to anything from what I understand. Some had no clue what was happening. Prayers for the world.
Based on the massive amount of fake garbage that came from Russia prior, they should've been booted then.
So dumb. All it's doing is hurting stock prices which in turn is hurting americans and has no impact on Russia
I read an article saying PayPal locked Russian users accounts. Interesting, because I actually bought some old Russian coins from someone there a couple months ago (before this current situation) using PayPal.
With Pay Pal, Mastercard, Amex and Visa all having pulled their services it's doubtful they are able to do much in Russia. I would assume even USPS is watching packages carefully.
Lol there are even sellers with Yugoslavia as their location, a country that ceased to exist for more than 3 decades! I doubt eBay would care.
That's pretty much the case. There are plenty of bad buyers and sellers from all over the world that eBay hasn't done much to stop but here they acted unilaterally when it's not as evident that they are helping anything (and likely are hurting others). Stopping a handful of people in Russia from selling coins will do nothing to alleviate the situation; there are other things that could and still should be done (which we don't need to get into here on CoinTalk). On another note, I have noticed a few sellers being creative. There was one that I noticed switched his location from Russia to Estonia (must live close to the border).
They should be able to tell where a seller is by the IP address. A friend of mine told me once he knew of a dealer that used to sell on Ebay. The seller listed a token from the early 1900s that said "N***** Hill" on it. He immediately lost his account and he can't even set up a new account because Ebay flagged his IP address.
I won an auction on a banknote from a Russian seller the day before the invasion. It shipped the day of the invasion. Tracking shows that it was processed through a facility in Moscow a couple weeks ago after coming from a provincial town, but no updates since then. I’m curious how the sanctions will impact international mail. Surely packages will be delayed in leaving Russia if they even leave at all.
That doesn’t address shipments from Russia though. Once a package arrives in the US don’t they have to deliver it?
Ah yeah I just noticed that it only addresses US side. If it were to reach the US, I imagine they would deliver? Considering most flights out of Russia are banned from using EU airspace and can't land in the US, I don't have a good feeling that your package will make it out of Moscow any time soon, even if they still mailed to the US.
Turkey and Serbia are the only two countries this side of Russia that still have flights if I’m not mistaken. I’m sure that will be quite a bottleneck. A complete suspension of mail service seems extreme to me even during the current crisis. I saw that UPS and FedEx are also suspending service.
It's not even just ebay doing the dog and pony show. It's not like they dont have their own eBay style sites to sell things anyways either. It's hypocritical at best to block Russia yet operate in China who has literal concentration camps going on. Nothing says it has to get through customs, but yes if customs clears it it would be delivered
The Russian people had nothing to do with this. I've yet to see one in support of the invasion. The country is run by one man.
Why? Just because terrorists white supremacists unvaccinated Russians are the latest scapegoat for the world falling apart? Russians aren't Putin. I know a co-worker, great guy, who grew up in the USSR. I'd like to ask him if he's caught any flak lately for being Russian but don't even know what's appropriate anymore in upside-down-world. I don't support Russia's invasion, but I also don't support the hate mongering, division, and distraction constantly sown by our "leaders" and media. One would do well to take a hard look at those who continue to point fingers at anyone but themselves...
