Hi guys, I have this 2012 P Alaska National Park State Quarter and I would like to know what is happening on the reverse of this quarter? Is this a partially sintered planchet?
Never heard of that error before but I'm pretty sure you have a urinal coin!!!wash your hands and spend it next time you have to.
I saw this partial sintered planchet being sold on Great Collections. Here is the link: https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...red-Planchet-Mis-annealed-Planchet-PCGS-MS-65. This is why I asked the question.
Looks like there was another coin against it. See the curve of the design on the Reverse? They were laying together and the exposed area of the cladding became toned. I have metal detected coin spills where 2 or more coins were together in the ground that have the same look. This quarter spill were in the dirt longer.. Not a sintered or Improperly Annealed Planchet IMHO
Thanks so much for your informed answer Paddy! I really appreciate it. Understanding Sintered Planchet's is not easy for me. And this coin was sure a mystery because I never saw coloring like this before.
I know of improperly annealed planchets, the Sintered part just threw me off.So basically it's a fancy word describing a improperly annealed planchet.
Yea he floors me too. I think he might of maybe been wrong very few times. That’s what I like about him. Wait till he takes you around NYC
