Hello guys!Anyone knows this coin/coat of arms? Legend with Ferdinand II but i just don't know what it is? Thanks!
Don't think it's Emden or Hall! By the coat of arms it's a bishopric issue, i just don't know which. Not my coin by the way, just researching it!
I think it might be a coin of Philipp Christoph Von Sotern. He was the bishop of Speyer and archbishop of Trier my eyes could be fooling me but i think i can make out 25 in the legend which would indicate 1625.I cannot find the coin in any reference I have or by searching online. That Z in the coat of arms does show up on some of his coins. Hope this helps.
I believe you are right! It looks like a Speyer N.D Dicken of Sotern, a very rare little coin. Thank you for your research, i've spend 1/2 day on german states and coats of arms, to no result!
I thought the Z on the coat of arms could be a key piece of data, but only found 1 coin on MA shops with it and that was identified as Hall (maybe it was misidentified) Good work IDing it. Sometimes these Austrian/German States look simple but end up being very challenging. I'll have to pull out my low grade "to be identified later" box and see if I learned anything new. I'm to the point where I know I know enough to make myself dangerous but not enough to be good at it.
Just one coin found online - sold twice in 2012 and 2020 at around 400 USD https://tinyurl.com/2p9bpstj
