I am curious what your experiences have been buying currency notes on eBay. Good? Bad?

I have to say in general my ebay experiences have been quite good. I buy quite a new notes there. The really top end/expensive stuff I normally get from auctions, but that's largely because it just doesn't end up on ebay.

Though I collect raw notes, foreign, which isn't what you're collecting... perhaps the market is different.

Buy from a power seller, check feedback, (I never buy anything under 99% positive feedback) ask questions. MHO.

All of the same priciples I listed in your other thread about buying on eBay apply.

E-bay for the buyer is Ok, As a PREVIOUS SELLER there the envirement
Is for sure not as good, Closed my store there and moved to e-bid
Several months ago, Much more user friendly WITH OUT THE OUTRAGEOUS
    FEES E-BAY CHARGES!!

MY experiences were very good, I haven't had any serious problems except a slow shipper here and there. Just remember that you can always contact the seller, whether it's about them being slow, or needing more pictures, or calrification on the ads. And if an item doesn't sell, don't be afraid to send a message asking if they'll take a lower price - you'd be surprised how many people agree to sell for less and just get rid of an item.

I think the seller perspective should be addressed here! With out
Anyone selling no one can buy!! Its a fact that both e-bay and
Pay-pal have made the process more difficult for the seller, Many
Have given up selling there and yes iam one of them! but i most
Certainly not alone, Thats for sure:(:computer:

I actually sell on ebay too, and so far hadn't had issues. Yes, the fees are hard to swallow, but I just list items carefully and make sure I list what can definitely sell well.

Fairly good results so far with currency on eBay. I also prefer to buy from Sellers that post with Auctiva pics or have some way of presenting good quality scans at a large file size. Have to do your homework though as I am finding some eBay Sellers are buying from HA.com, TeleTrade, etc. and really hiking up the prices with silly BINs. Like anything else, an educated consumer makes the wisest decisions.

Question? Do you have a store? Or due you just list randomly?

Great experiences in regards to buying on ebay. I always check for a really high feedback 98% positive or better. Power sellers are good and make sure they have experience (like at least 50 feedback is generally what I use but make exceptions sometime). Also, not paper but with coins, I dont buy from China because of the high counterfeiting over there. Good luck!

I have mostly good stories from ebay. There were three instances where I received the envelope, but the coin was removed, either by accident or on purpose during transit. Each time I emailed the seller to tell him maybe they should package the coins so nobody knows what's inside. Two sellers sent me a replacement coin at no charge, even though I don't think the seller was responsible for the loss. The third coin was a one ounce copper round. The seller said he'd replace it for free, but he must have forgot, because I never got it.

I did get a letter from a seller one time telling me the coin I bought was already sold to somebody else, and he wanted to re-imburse me with a money order. There was no invoice in the envelope. I buy so many coins from ebay, I wasn't sure what I had bought from him. I sent him a letter explaining this, but he never wrote me back.
