Just a Little Soak in Acetone

No profound earth shattering results, but perhaps a little improvement? Behold, the subject.........



The following appear after the soak..........

















24 hour immersment. What cha think. Any improvement? As always, any and all comments gleefully accepted and appreciated.

Whenever I see your new avatar,

I'm reminded of:

Not a big change but it looks better to me. Nice coin. Great images.

 

Didn't change it much, IMHO.

 

It didn't do any harm is about all I can say.

 

I think the obverse looks a bit more mellow, less harsh after the dip, and the reverse seems to be just a bit crisper or a little more detail. But I think there is slight improvement in both sides.

And the avitar reminds me of Clem Cadiddlehopper.

 

Removed the mascara, doesn't look quite so goth.

 

I personally would think that little change wasn't worth the trouble IMO

But perhaps worth the task, if only to discover the futility behind reviving such a relic. Short order.........nothing ventured, nothing gained.

 

Good point and I do see improvement.

 

One of JL's best roles (along with SLIH), loved the movie too. But Red was one of my heros.

 

On obverse, I think I prefer prior treatment. On reverse, I like post treatment.

 

Psssss, don't tell anyone you cleaned it, they won't know.

 

Nice job. The varying opinions show that visual improvement is subjective. One thing that was not mentioned is the importance of removing funk and gunk from the coin's surface. I think the conservation of the coin is a job well done.

 

Prior to the soak, the details on the coin's surfaces appeared to show outlines and details a little stronger than afterwards. Nice coin, all the same.
