Sometime in the last year I found out that my LCS usually has a lot of foreign coins that they have purchased but no one has had time to sort through yet. For years I'd go and dig through their 25 cent bin, and I'd find a lot of nice stuff, but since they told me about these unsearched coins it's been a whole new ballgame. I never know what they're going to price them and which ones they'll decide to look up and which they'll just make up a price for, but I often get a lot of great deals and I'm seeing a lot better stuff. So I went on Friday and they had 12 albums of coins that they told me no one had looked through yet. It was a jackpot. I probably pulled out about 85% of the coins to at least get prices on. It was all good stuff - mostly obscure countries like I like, and most of it was in great condition. After looking over the huge heap of coins, they gave me a quote of $400. When I got it home I looked at them more closely and realized how well I did. So many of these are either new to me or conditional upgrades, and I'm not exactly new at this. There's no way I can show them all right now and I haven't had a chance to take any individual photos, but here's a picture of the heap. The bin on the right is either coins I'm going to keep or need to check against my current collection. The ones on the left I'm planning to resell. Usually the left pile is a lot bigger, but this just shows how great this was.
I have a love/hate relationship with your posts. I love to see all the great world coins you post but I hate the fact that I can't ever find anything decent in any world bins around me.
