I know this coin is not in great shape but what do you think of the error in it? would it be worth keeping?
If by worth you mean monetary - i am not sure... but for interesting pieces - i would say YES its worth keeping
Welcome to the forum Can you post a picture of the obverse of your coin too? If not, please tell us the year and mint mark or your coin. Thanks
my scanner makes it look like it is uneven on the front. It is not. The liberty is in full writing and there is the full rim. The font looks like a regular penny
Thanks for posting the obverse. Its hard to tell from the scans, but you may be looking at a plating issue. Post 1982 Lincolns often have bubbles in the plating (as you see on the obverse). A way of testing if what you have on the reverse is a plating issue is to gently (let me repeat GENTLY) press on it with a toothpick. If it depresses easily, then you have a plating bubble. If not, well, I'm not sure what you have and will default to those more experienced
Hi, It just looks like a spot of corrosion that has broken through the copper plating. Nothing unusual about that on the post 1982 Copper-plated zinc cents. Have Fun, Bill
It's a spot of subsurface corrosion that raised up a blister and that blister then popped. The corrosion could have been due to an impurity beneath the plating, or a tiny gap in the plating could have allowed corrosive material in.
