Supposedly there's only about 1k left for sale. It is a great design and the previous 2 sold out.

Im not holding my breath on those since they still don’t have a hard date for the ones from last year. If they keep the same mintage I’d expect those to sell out too

That’s awesome. My old grandad was a Seabee. I believe it hurt his heart when I joined the Army. Told me I was cannon fodder!

Thank you Randy, but even more awesome is your grand dad. WWII, I'm guessing? The first Seabees, (founded MAR '42). We hold our founders in very high esteem. My rate (MOS to you army cats) was Construction Mechanic. Do you know what rate your grand was?
Cannon Fodder? Sounds like a real Seabee! We had a praise, "I'd rather have a sister working in a cat (edited) house than a brother in the Army".

Awe shucks, no need to thank me, you can thank my recruiter! (Just a little military humor).

No forgiveness is needed. I worded my post to raise conversation. I was in the Naval Construction Battalion, the Seabees. We were land based forward expeditionary units charged with the construction of docks, airstrips, and camps unusually in the middle of no where. The first CB units (1942) were usually transported by ship. Today we are usually flown into location hence "never on a ship".

Ha! My old grizzled grandad never told me his grade. All I know is he was in the Pacific. Had a hula girl tattooed on his forearm that would dance when he manipulated his arm muscles. He was a WWII vet…. Years ago when I went home to visit. Last time I saw him, that hula girl was gone. I asked my mom why he had it removed. She told me he sat on the back porch and cut it off with a pocket knife because he was tired of looking at it. Crazy, grizzled old fellow. I sure miss him too.

    Ok ok ok.....
I just bit the $160 bullet and put in my order. If I factor in the cost divided by the number of years served, it comes out to $8 per year. Just trying to make myself feel better about the purchase haha.

I guess I will consider it a little retirement gift from myself to myself :)

I like your thinking! That is a perfect retirement gift to you from you!
Now if only we could get the mint to honor the Seabees with a coin and the NYS DMV to offer a personalized Seabee license plate... (we all ready have one for the USN)

Dad turned 18 in January 1946, enlisted in the Navy, and finished his service right before Korea started heating up. I wasn't considering the medal -- I don't really collect medals -- but I wonder.

She's a beaut! I think I might have to get one. My son served on an Arleigh Burke DDG but not this one. He would, however, likely have done some exercises with this one in a group.

I was hoping theyd last a little longer to get a few more when the limit was lifted but if it even made it that long it was like an instant sellout when they did
