I have a Denver 2011 struck dime, letters across in God we trust are under original dime.in God we trust around rim from a penny.
Can't really tell much from the pictures provided, other than the coin appears to be damaged. Full sized pictures, in focus, of both sides and better lit may help us help you
So basically this person had nothing to do but play with a vice, the coin is not damaged ,any press would damage coin in color strike rim rim wouldn't be distorted.
Honestly we see this sort of thing daily, you are right, some people have nothing better to do than 'play' with coins. Either for a school project, engineering shenanigans' or just because they like to destroy things. Until you provide clear and in focus pictures all we can see is damage. See if you can get hold of The Book of US Coins (a.k.a. Red Book) it has lots of information, just don't rely on the pricing as it is not accurate. Coin World Almanac and The Coin Collector's Survival Manual are good helps for you also. Read up on the minting process, then you will understand why what you are seeing cannot have happened at the mint.
I want to add "Welcome to CT" we're like a big family here, we try to help each other out as much as possible. You should find lots of helpful advice and tips. If you are prepared to learn you will expand your knowledge base and understanding of coins greatly
It's not a mint error of any kind. Good luck proving it is Mr. Ed - Specializing in collecting Mint Errors since 1986
