Incredible! My next trip out across the ocean I hope to do some detecting. I don't necessarily need to keep everything, either, just to be able to get out and experience it.

I also agree with the frog... I don't think this will be your best this year.

An amazing find! @galba68, what would you guess is the ratio of Roman Imperial to Roman Provincial coins you find from before AD 300? One would think the latter would predominate where you live, but you seem to find a lot of the former.

Donna, the ratio is approximately 20 for 1 in favor of Imperial coins..Provincial coins comes mostly from Nicaea, Nicomedia, Stobi, Nikopolis, Serdica and of course, from Viminacium..But, quality of Provincial bronze is much, much better than quality of Imperial bronze..Why is that, no idea..

Wow. Thanks, that's fascinating. I guess Imperial coinage circulated a lot more in places like Moesia than I would ever have guessed.

@galba68 ...What a little dream coin!.That must have "PINGED"..You've still got 8 and a half months to go...so let's see?...The soil looks really loamy so probably why the coins come out with such good detail?....Here it's just high lime which seems to eat away at the Bronzes....Congrats on a super find my friend..

Just beautiful! and such great condition for this issue. I can understand how excited you are.

I was also pretty happy when my son found this one many years ago, in spite of its very poor condition.
