The photos are too poor to say with any certainty, but it just looks semi-toned. If it is gold in hand, as Sal said, almost certainly plated as a souvenir or trinket.
I do remember seeing Lincoln cents like that. My sister had a charm bracelet that had wheat cents on it. They were all plated. The 1953 cent may have come from one of those. They were sold in the 1950's until the early 1960's. Possibly later but, I don't remember seeing any with the memorial reverse. The one you have may have come from one of those but, was in circulation for a while to wear some of the plating off.
