Please don't take my comments to the bank! Wait for more comments! I don't see anything that would convince me this isn't the real deal. While I can't see any scratches or abrasions on the surface in these pictures, I also think maybe it has been cleaned! It almost looks too smooth for a 1914, and the inside areas of the letters and numbers are really dark and dirty looking while the rest looks much cleaner!!!! With that said, I hesitate to guess at a grade or value!!! Hope I'm wrong about it being cleaned! Wait for more experienced members to post!!!
It looks real to me. The spacing between the numbers in the date looks normal. It has been cleaned, unfortunately. If you can try and get rid of that green spot on the rim between 9 and 10 o’clock.
I agree the coin is cleaned, at least at some point in its life. Lincoln cents this age and condition have a darker color, and I see cleaning scratches. Still a nice coin though!
I agree with our fellow enthusiasts. It was cleaned. But I snagged one like it to stuff in my album since my best one is in a slab. The price was right and would do it for a 09S VDB if one came along that I liked. Mint mark looks correct and this appears authentic. 1914-D Lincoln Cent Counterfeit – COIN HelpU (coinauctionshelp.com)
Genuine! I'd give it close to an XF on the grade! I'm thinking lighting, but if its been cleaned its no "Steel Wool Special" It would go very well in my Raw Lincoln collection.
As stated above by more than a few members, it looks good to me, but cleaned. If the price was right, I'd snag it up. Having said that, the Chinese are getting so good at copies that one just never knows for certain.
