Machine doubling in my opinion, and come on Pam, you know that no mint mark means it was minted in Philadelphia, don't you?
Okay, now with your second post, I see you are looking for proof coins missing the S mint mark. Neither of your dimes are proofs. Just normal, beat up, business strikes from Philadelphia.
I’m going to find a show and tell class and display and read read read! My son says that always. He is a reader.
Read your Redbook (Guidebook of United States Coins). When I started collecting as a kid, I learned so much from it. Give it to your kid to read, too.
Gotcha! Son is 24 and not into coins. No doubt down the road he will know when I’m gone to see where his grandfather traveled. Foreign and USA before year 2001 those I store from his grandpa. Thanks for the advice.
I take that back. My son does have one medallion from LSU. No monetary worth but sentimental and proud of him. His is tucked away! This is just a photo.
Don't lose heart, you are just trying too hard. Just chill and enjoy the hobby and read old threads on here I am still learning after 50 years of collecting.
There is a '68 DDO dime with the date as the Pick Up Point. It is most easily seen from about the 10 o'clock position in the loop of the "6". I can't tell from the pictures but my gut tells me neither of those is it. It's very scarce except in Unc because it appears in nearly .2% of mint sets. Any of the DDO's that got into circulation are mostly gone now through heavy attrition.
Learning is not embarrassing it knowledge @PamR your opinion is always welcome, appreciated, and understood. Thank you!
Thanks. Hard to get the pics in good focus. These have been not touched probably more than 20 years. My dad’s and finally going through them slowly. Thanks again.
