I just read in my March "Coin News" auction reports/ DNW had sold a MS-63 Mughal Empire AV Mohur AH 1037 Surat Mint ex: Akola Hoard
Shah Jahan I for 8060 UK Pounds!!!!!!
I purchased a GEM UNC ex. in 1990 for $240 Canadian. Today a lesser quality coin realized 14K Canadian:cigar: Mine old photo.... IMG_0030.JPG

Are you tempted to sell into this market? I'd be seriously considering it.

Agree, though it represents a gamble that inflation isn't just getting underway.

The little guy sitting on my other shoulder says "take your gains, you fool!"

The prices at my grocery store shocked me so much this week that I'm afraid to go back.

    Poo...inflation.

He bought his for $250 CAD 32 years ago. If it's worth $8,000-$14,000 right now that is not a sign of general inflation. It's a sign of a major generational shift in collector demand.

When a 3,200%-5,600% profit is staring you in the face, you take pause...and consider.

Alternatively...his may be his Precious and he'll fall into an active volcano before he gives it up. ;)

The reason I brought this topic up was that this coin was pert of the Akola Hoard (3000) coins found in 1974. So, with 3000 on market....way overpriced! at 8000+ UK Pounds. But, I would not sell any of my 990 AV coins/ I am a collector not a speculator.:D

But what other coins could you buy with this windfall profit?

    Think about it.

    Moar coinz, moar, moar...

    :)

This coin in 63 was about $1500 two years ago. Yours looks like atleast a 65. I’m surprised at the super high pricing, generally only the Indian super rare or top end of the grade coins have been hitting moon money. This mohur in 63 is neither. Soooo tempting to sell!
