Your huddled masses of forgotten coinage yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming collection.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost, the forgotten and forlorn to this thread in the form of fotog fantastic.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door. And I'll be taking names of those who don't post here........you know who you are. devil.gif

Here's a fun coin. I got this one as a gift when I was very young, and at the time I just thought: "A half dollar, that's pretty neat" and didn't think anything of it. Years later, in maybe 7th or 8th grade, I brought it (unprotected in my pocket) with me to school to show to my friend who I knew collected coins. He told me it was silver (he judged by the weight) and I brought it home thinking that was a nice find. That night I looked at it closer, and [cringe ahead] tried to get rid of that "gunk" on the back with my Leatherman. That's right, before I knew any better I scraped this thing with a knife. It's a shame too, it's a pretty coin. Luckily I didn't go too far with it. I looked at the value in the morning, and this event jump-started my collecting journey, along with more conversations at school about coin collecting. Also finding a wheat cent on the ground which yes, I did clean with lemon juice. Yikes. I'm just glad I know better now.

The babysitter of our youngest got this in change back in the 70's. Traded it to me for 50 cents.
