Hi all, I'm working on a collection of ASEs, and I prefer to store them in the plastic 2x2 snaplock holders rather than in a made-to-fit album or in the cardboard holders. However, I'd also like to store them in a three ring binder for viewing, so I'm wondering if there are any 3 hole pages you can buy that have slots which fit the plastic holders instead of the cardboard holders. I was looking at some of the pages that lighthouse sells but I wasn't sure which ones might fit, or if there is a better option out there. Any info would be most appreciated--hopefully the question makes sense.
Yes they make pages to hold them, there are sevral companies. What you need to be careful about is that you choose one with non PVC pages.
If the coin's already in a plastic case of inert materials, would it matter what the sleeve pages are made out of? There would be no contact with the metal.
There doesn't have to be direct contact with the metal. When the plastecizers used in PVC to make it soft and pliable begin to break down they turn into a gas. That gas can penetrate the coin holders and settle on the coins inside them. That is what does the damage.
Cool, thanks for the tip. I've identified these pages that have 3 columns and four rows, as oppososed to the 4 x 5 arrangement, and it seems like they'll fit the plastic holders well. Does anyone know if lighthouse products have the PVC in them? It seems like any company that's marketing these sheets to the coin collecting hobby would have eliminated the material, but you never know.
When in doubt just contact the manufacturer of any product. One phone call is always worth the chances of finding out something like that. When you do call, make it a practice to state "This call may be monitored for security reasons". I do that all the time since almost every company I call does that to me. If they are afraid of what they may say, they'll hang up and you'll know from that alone something is wrong. And if they should state NO PVC and later you find out not true, they know you could sue them so it's really worth the call. Oddly enough there have been seveal instances when I called a manufacturer about one of their products, they ended up sending me several free samples.
Thanks. I ended up buying BCW vinyl pages because they were advertised as chemically inert. Anyone had any experience with this particular brand?
