    I used to pull stuff like this out of junk boxes in the 80s. Most anything prior to 1850-70 was fair game and I learned a neck of a lot about European history and coins trying to ID them. At first, the only thing available was Craig's Catalog of World Coins 1750-1850, but Krause started publishing their catalog in the 80s and over time added earlier coins.

    I have 3 long 2x2 boxes with German states (maybe 75+ diff states) along with another 10-12 boxes of pre-1850 European. Most are low grade and not worth much, but I what I learned from them is priceless
