    If you used nic-a-date, it will not be graded or at best it would be damaged.

    It has no grade and is not worth anything but 7 cents. A chemically altered worn out coin has no grade.

    That is not entirely true. That coin in good is worth about $55. Someone that can't afford that will spend $4-$5 bucks on that to have it as a filler.

    Sorry, but your price is wrong. Here are just 3 examples easily found on eBay;

    Average selling price = $9.91.

    If you think that is an aberration, the next 3 averaged $9.61.

    Care to post some pics? I'd like to see a BN that has been "nick-a-date'd".

    This statement is an opinion of many collectors. But, some want to put a set together on a strict budget. On ebay are several examples of people willing to spend a few dollars on "acid dated" buffalos. I bought one just to examine it, and didn't pay a great deal for it. For the price of some of the date/mintmark buffalos in even VG condition, I think it is an economical way to at least temporarily fill some of those holes.

    I've seen a 18/7 acid date go for $100-130. Bot bad for about .35-.50 investment

    wow that's some good money for a altered coin.
    I think I have about 20 rolls of no daters that I'm gonna be going thru it seems now :D

    You'all pay what you want to pay (or consider it worth), we do the same.

    Not to pick nits but in the end a coin is only worth what someone else is willing to pay you for it. These auction finals show that people are willing to pay a little for these.

    It's worth at least as much as a $6,000,000 "panache" :} :} :}

    That is very true. A lot depends on when the auction is listed, and when it ends. I also think people are at least getting a genuine piece of American history this way. I am amazed at the number of fake Chinese buffalos on ebay, even common dates. Given the choice, I'll take the altered authentic piece any day.

    I just found a rather interesting thread titled "What's it worth, what does it really mean anyway???". Here is a quote from it;

    I have shown that there is a demand for them. Therefore, they have a worth (over other nickels).

    I only know a few hundred dealers, and a few thousand collectors and none of them want coins like this for any reason.
    You'all may of course collect or purchase any kind you find that you may like - we don't put much store in those type coins around here!!!

    I know of no one who want one either, but there were a minimum of 10 people bidding on the coins I just referenced with my links to eBay - and that was but one day in the life of eBay.

    Yes my point exactly - consider the source, the life on eBay - there are people who would bid on cow*#$@ on that site as long as it was mint state, or claimed to be. If we do not give our opinions on these type subject what are we to expect others to learn.
    My experience and all who I buy from, sell to, talk with is a coin (any coin) treated in that manner is useless - that's all there is to it here - it may be somebody's else's coin but not in the circles I travel in. Other's certainly may want coins like this but I will never, never, never understand why. This is my experience and opinion not yours on a coins like that!
