Very interesting show of course Perry won, he almost always wins. the show was about coin collecting and forgery and of course murder. Had some intersting coins on the show, but, what stood out was the main piece. A 1862 Confederate 50 cent piece, a real one and a copy. The forger nor his daughter was the killer. A person who really wanted the coin a notabl colllector did it. Very interesting show.

I used to really enjoy the old TV shows, but can't watch them anymore because about twenty minutes of the show is removed to make room for additional ads. Most of these shows have been whittled down a few seconds every year and the original versions lost.

Vaguely remember the Perry Mason episode.

Sorry, I was sorting wheat pennies. Going to have to get a new technique going on that. Whew. 8O

Perry Mason - "The Case of the Wooden Nickels"

This was a pretty interesting 1964 episode from the numismatic standpoint.
The plot involved substituting replicas for original rare coins, the selling of a Confederate Half Dollar, and eccentric coin collectors.

I added this television episode to my "Coins on Television" website.

    :)

Thanks for spoiling the ending!! I had recorded that one and was going to watch it tonight.. :joyful:

Just kidding. I'll check it out. I love those older shows about coins. There are like 3 Dennis the Menace shows that revolve around coins.

Talk of coins on TV shows reminds me of the Hawaii 5-0 episode I watched as a kid. The $100,000 nickel. (a 1913 liberty)
