I don't own many toned coins, but I bought this one years ago. I like the toning not only because it guarantees me that this coin was never cleaned, but this one is a spectacular blue! I hope you can see it in the pics, I did the best I could. I want to make Lehigh drool someday... ...you guys are going to thank God when I go back to work and stop posting so much! sheesh! Thanks for being here for me!
Where did you get this idea? There are many coins that have been cleaned and retoned, both naturally and artificially. In fact some people retone coins specifically to hide a cleaning.
It's a PCGS MS-66. It's in and old green holder. I have owned it for about 10 years or so, don't know if it would get a FB, but I don't care.
Well I can see the blue toning, but I think to get Paul to drool the pictures need to be larger. Second - even in a slab there is no gurantee of not being cleaned somewhere in the past. Personally from what I can see this one looks all natural. Nice coin!
To get me to drool, you might need a blue Roosevelt like some from my registry set which is entitled "The Rainbow Blues". Eat your heart out!
this one has what they refer to as "mint set toning". It is colorful on the side that was against the paper, and has a very light, mottled toning on the other (what would be the exposed) side
love 'em Lehigh! The blues on mine look almost identical to yours, my photography skills OTOH, are nowhere near as good. and yes, of course I like yours, I am just not a big buyer of toned coins but every once in a while I have to show that I can enjoy them as well
