1940-D DDO

    I found this coin and it kind of looks like it has DDO. thoughts?

    it is most likely MD but I thought I would consult the experts....

    More like DDD - Die Deterioration doubling.
    Worthless doubling and also a bit of circulation Smooshines.

    Strike doubling…both the date and mm have the same shift.

    The doubling surrounds the devices, this doesn't happen with MD. MD is a shift to one side of the divices, flat and shelf like. DDD deforms the device which is shown here. Still worthless doubling.

    After a second, closer look I agree. This has the deterioration look rather than the MD shift look…Spark

    Appears to be just a heavily circulated cent, IMHO. Took lots of hits throughout the years.
