HSN Rumors: Here we go again!

I am sure most of us are aware of the controversy with HSN repeatedly and aggressively reporting the definitive end of the satin finish run for all future coins - even though the mint has not released any information confirming this.

Now HSN is claiming that 2010 will "probably" be the end of the Lincoln Cent as the government is leaning towards doing away with a one cent coin - follwed by the "this could be the last Lincoln Cent to be released in general circulation, you better get as many as you can from us now while you can!"

This just in: in order to boost revenues for HSN, the US mint will indefinitely halt the production of all US coins!

These guys are really something.

 

i know never buy from them lol they tried to sell 200 wheat cents for 80 bucks a while back lol

 

How can they get away with this? Isn't that a type of marketing scam to lure ignorant people into buying their products? I think someone should be notified.

I have watched HSN before though even as a noob with coins I could tell their prices were pretty expensive.

The term "probably" kinda releases them from the truth.

They definitively said that the satin finish coins are done. I am still waiting to see if they knew ahead of time.

 

Unfortunately there is no law against ignorance, naivety, or stupidity.

Absolutely. I'm surprised the Mint doesn't bring the hammer down on them as I know they do not like people hoarding the money they put out there for circulation.

 

There just trying to get you to open your wallet up!! ;(

 

But the 2 Acts that cover false advertising were originally intended to protect one company from defaming another, such as "our competitor uses inferior components" rather than by individuals. But the Lanham does allow individuals to seek justice, but it seems difficult to do successfully due to the 6 required proofs.

 

I was going down the list checking them off one by one saying yeah, yeah, yeah, until I got to #5. That's tough to prove as a consumer. All of the rest fit, though. Talk about skating the line.

 

I guess that is why it takes so much money and time to bring suit against tobacco, automotive, drug, and any really large company.

Myself, I rant and rave to all my friends about the over the counter pills for weight loss, memory, arthritis, prostate, male enlargement, etc. There is where I find tremendous government failure to regulate.

Ohh, and the Quaker magic heaters!! An erg, calorie, or BTU is an erg, calorie or BTU! But if it keeps people's butts warm and doesn't fry the cat.........

 

Nice observation. These guys choose their words, so maybe the unequivocal wording lends more credence to possibly the end of satin finish.

How could a class prove that they were financially harmed by this? Are you saying that they are distorting the market? On their own? I think that's a stretch.

Please don't think wrongly of my thoughts. There are many things that I feel should be regulated more, but I really don't trust any legislature to get it right. If someone is intellectually challenged enough to believe these types of programs and throw their money away, it is their right under the law to do so. I don't buy a book because Oprah says it is the best book she has ever read!
