Ok, all, I am stir crazy. I have had the flu for 3 days now (and not done yet) and I have been kind of cooped up with nothing much to do but watch tv and CT all day long and sleep whenever I could. Sorry I have been so chatty! (I posted over 30 times today! Sheesh, that's a lot for me!) but enough about my inspiration... I have been thinking for a long time that I would like to write again and this may very well be the place to start again. clinker does his Trivia posts and I think everyone enjoys them. I know I sure do. I thought long and hard about how I could do something worth reading and I have come up with this idea, tell me what you think. I was laying in bed thinking of coin trivia questions that people might enjoy reading and thought about it as posting a weekly trivia quiz. I wasn't thinking easy stuff, but slightly more difficult questions that you can answer with a bit of research, but probably won't be able to open your Red Book and find right away. I figured I could post 5 a week, and the answers the following week along with 5 new questions. 5 could be manageable for me to do while I work my regular jobs, it would be a great way to share lesser known facts, and it would give me things to research as well as an outlet for my writing. opinions??? Would very many of you like a weekly feature like this?
Yes, that would be fun, but good luck with 5 per week - particularly with the internet. I would think you would be doing extraordinarily well if you could just get 2.
I have 10 written already. Wrote them in about 45 minutes. (I'm bored! LOL) I figured I could probably write 5 a week.
Mike...bring it on..... Hope you're felling better. Being sick, well for lack of a better word, sucks.
If I get enough positive response, I will post 5 every Sunday (until I run out, LOL) starting this Sunday.
Fever I think that after the fever breaks you will realize how much work you have set yourself up for. But bring'em on, as long as you follow up with the correct answers.:thumb:
probably the smartest thing I have heard, (definitely the funniest) but I don't think it will be so much work. The real work is the imagination involved. Keeping the questions so that they entertain and inform without being too easy, or too impossibly hard. hey, what the heck, at least I know that I have a minimum of 2 weeks worth! I am going to start Sunday, we'll see how long I can make it last, but I warn you, I am persistent!
my suggestion... fine by me, my only concern... coin triva needs get a chance for newbies to study / attemp answer before pros swarm the thread with there answers. however,it will still help educate. JUST A THOUGHT
hence the idea of posting the questions on sunday and the answers the next sunday I am not going to take place in the discussions within the thread. I will simply write the questions and the answers. the discussion will be on it's own. as for the newps having a chance at answering, these are not going to be simple questions like: Who is on the Grant Star Commemorative half? They will be more difficult. Don't get me wrong, there are some here who will know (or be able to find) the answers, but they will not be just grabbing the answer off of the top of their heads first thought. I have lots of books on coins and so a lot of reference material on which to draw from. I wouldn't be satisfied with a fluff piece trivia column. I want it to be challenging so that everyone learns something, even the old timers!
maybe we should make it a PM me your answers instead of post your answers. we can announce anyone who got them all right each week as well. this is why I ask for opinions! thanks, ozark!
If I could get an admin's permission to post the trivia in the open forum (where there are no replies allowed) or have them lock the thread after I post it, that would be optimal! keep people from influencing each other's thoughts and answers
