    They are plating bubbles where the thin copper coating over the zinc core did not bond properly. Pic is two distant to see any possible doubling. Post a close up of where you think you see it

    Try this;
    https://coinauctionshelp.com/bubble-plating-mint-error/

    This is a very common condition on Lincoln cents from 1982 to date. It does not add value to your coin. I suggest you put the poor suffering thing back into circulation.

    Being only the 2nd year of zinc cents, this year was particularly hard to find in decent condition, even in solid date rolls. The Mint was still struggling with the new composition. And even though it's gotten better there are still problems with plating to the day.

    1982 was the transition year with the early part of the year producing copper cents and then switching to copper plated zinc later in the same year.

    So then this coin should weigh 2.6 and not 3.1 I think that copper coins pre 1982 are suppose to weigh?

    Thanks everybody, so it would be considered damaged and not a error coin then right? I'm gonna upload a close up to see if doubling can be seen

    The weight tolerance on zinc cents is 2.50 grams +/-0.10.

    For copper cents it's 3.11 grams +/- 0.13

    Anything falling within 2.40-2.69 or 2.98-3.24 is considered normal. Hope this helps answer you question

    Check out wexler DDO-006 . It doesn't say if it's copper or zinc . but with the bumps on wexler example, I'd say it's zinc .

    Lousy zincoln with plating issues. Might of help us if you had cropped your original photos for a better look.
