Well here is my second 31 s purchased this year....the first is mia around the house...and cannot be found! I hope I get to keep this one a little longer.
1972 with faint red toning that looks like a "tape line" across the obverse. My guess is a piece of paper sat on this area.
These are recent additions to my Lincoln collection, I got these a couple of weeks ago. My real Lincoln collection is RAW coins, but once I got it so close to complete I've been adding a few slabbed/graded ones to it.
A little over a year ago I had worked the date range down to one last Lincoln! It took me a long time to fill that hole, then on my first try I took a hit and ended up with a counterfeit. That was a hit I really couldn't afford at the time. But after I recovered and a year of learning how to better spot a phony 09SVDB I took the plunge and bought another one. I'm pretty happy with this one. It was PCGS Graded, I cracked it out so I could finely fill that hole in my album.
Well, you didn't say anything about this coin, but it doesn't look to be a VDB. The Mint Mark font looks questionable? Tell us a little bit about this coin?
I am always impressed by, and envious of, Larry’s coins, so here are my two 1909-S’s. The top one looks it has some wear on the beard, but since the silver color matches some toning in the obverse field at top left, I feel like it really is uncirculated and full red. The bottom one is MS65 RB CAC. I think the top one is nicer.
I assume you're aware that you have two different varieties, one is an earlier version than the other, NICE! I have the two versions of the 1909P-VDB
