Can anybody tell me specifically what this coin is?

I acquired it from a deceased relatives safety deposit box along with many other items. It was mounted in a 18K gold circular “frame”, for lack of a better term with a 18K gold chain. I can find many similar coins but nothing that matches it exactly. Also there is significant ware on the coin, one side in particular but im confident somebody on this forum has the expertise required to tell me something about this coin, roughly I’d like to know it’s relative age, nation or providence, and speculative value on the current market (if it’s worth anything more than silverspot), but unless it’s a replica, I should think it has some value..
anyway thanks so much and I look very much forward to reading any responses.

Looks like a Spanish 8 Reales, but whether it is genuine I am not qualified to give an opinion

Try the ancient coin forum. You should have better luck.

8 reale broken or cut for payment , if the shield wasn't such a mess i could tell you what date mint and assayer. I have to pull out an old book to ID the cross...and the essayer looks to be an O, an the specimen looks like a beach find.

The cross is the Greek Cross 1571-1652 Potosi & early Lima mints.
Philip lll, or lV from the shield, and cross it falls within the dates known for the cross and shield combination.
If the assayer mark is O that narrow down the date to 1649 - 1651 that also narrows down to Philip lV as king of Spain. I hope this sheds a little more light on your specimen.
From you image i say its weight is around 23 /24 grams. Weight on a full cob around 28 grams. Full size images would help.

Im guessing no paperwork as it has the time peroid that it could be an Atocha coin. See Atocha Mel Fisher

    Value $100/145 usd
