I bought this a month or two ago. It’s in an old ANACS small or shorty slab. Labeled as MS-65, 5 FS and a DDR. The Red Book does not list a 1944-P war nickel with a Doubled Die. Never seen one let alone heard of it. I bought it at an online auction and accepted ANACS word. I’m not finding any doubling but the paperwork states, “Minor doubling on reverse in places”.

I guess I’ll have to wait to find the doubling until I recover from my vertigo a bit longer. Today is the first day I’ve driven in over two months. That yellow line still moves but just barely. I shaved for the first time as well yesterday as that guy looking at me in the mirror wasn’t moving. LOL

Well here’s the coin. I took a number of photos, in part to show the small size of the slab. One photo is the slab sitting on a PCGS slab and another shows the slab in a box for 20 coins.

This is a minor ddr most probably a few split serifs on lettering. I just sold last Saturday one of the better ddr on a war nickel. An 1945 p ddr FS -05- 1945P- 801 [030 ]this particular ddr shows strong doubling..not all do as the 1945 P ddr FS -05- 1945P- 803 -[030.3] it's a ddr but the doubling only seen on lettering it not as dramatic as the 1st 45 P ddr somewhat like yours.
Anacs was good at putting the variety on the old soap bar slabs.
I suggest to have a look a varietyvista to see the two varieties above.

Most expect to see doubling like this...

Not this...but it is a ddr.

One cannot see doubling when one doesn't know what to look for....some doubled dies I laught at... a split serif on the W ....and that deemed a doubled die.

War nickels had the most varieties of the series...the 43P has over 70 RPM's alone not to mention all the ddo's for that date.

Now I can’t see any doubling on that coin either. Lol. I have a couple of war nickels that easily show the doubling but those are listed in the Red Book. The one I posted is not listed.

These 44 P's have a fattening towards the perimeter. Look for extra thickness and separation lines on the devices along the rim. I have seen many an early Soap Box slab. The authentications were correct, nearly 100% of the time.

Can you take some closer looks at the perimeter lettering?

Either way that's a nice looking War Nickel. Strong strike nice luster unclogged steps. Good for the grade, and still can't get a CAC sticker.
I just went off in a rant, about why CAC doesn't sticker worthy coins, no matter the slab. And I had to delete it,

Hope you are getting over that vertigo. Nasty stuff. I had it after a tree fell on my head, nine stitches (yes, now you know why I'm a bit strange. LOL), and it took a long time for just the nausea to go away.

Slowly but surely. I didn’t even think to take OTC motion sickness pills. Thanks for checking.

I can't tell which one it is. Not enough details thru the slab.
