Can anyone ID this Roman brooch in the shape of a shield?

    Hi all!

I recently bought a small lot of miscellaneous detecting finds
What attracted me to the lot was that it was cheap, and included this rather nice brooch (?) in the shape of a shield. It is quite large, and is 40-42mm in diameter, and may be bimetallic

Does anyone know what era from the empire it may be from (if it is indeed Roman)?

Incidentally, here are the other bits from the lot

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

It's hard to say because the latch and pin are missing. Checking in my copy of "A Visual Catalog of Hattat's ancient Brooches" it lines up with 2nd-3rd century types but they are also known from later periods. Some are gilt and enameled.
