1958D Found Searching this morning.. I went through all the DDO's on Coppercoins.. Couldn't find this... 9 Shows a Tail of a 2nd 9??? Or is this just a EDS cud off the 9?? Any opinions?
It's not a doubled die, probably a die chip, metal shaving, clash or die gouge, someone hit the die or???? We see all kinds of things in 1950's Lincolns - they simply struck coins with all kinds of stuff in them and on them. It may be an RPM but I don't think so, at least I'm not aware of any that look like this. It's a bit thick for an errant RPM although there is one other almost up "in the letters" but not at that location and not as thick. Not a doubled die though that's for sure.
Oh ya.. Always.. I have about 4 boxes 2x12 with only about 1/3 Identified and confirmed with markers.. Many not attributed.. Yet.. No time.. It is easy to find them with the searching I do.. but the confirming with some dates can be rough.. On man.. that 1961D is a bear.. so many RPM's
